Proton tests for Monte-Carlo

P-G Andersson began his association with the factory PROTON team by completing a successful first test for the Malaysian manufacturer in France recently.

The 30-year-old Swede drove his Satria Neo Super 2000 for two days on test roads south of Grenoble as part of his preparations for Rallye Monte-Carlo, the opening round of the 2011 Intercontinental Rally Challenge from 18-22 January.

“I’m very pleased with the first test,” said Andersson, who covered approximately 200 kilometres in heavy snow. “As the conditions on the test changed a little bit, we made some changes to the chassis and you could feel those changes straight away. It was good to get plenty of running on studded tyres. By the end of the second day of the test, we did have a clean line coming on the road and we were able to run without the studs, but it would be good to get some time on dry asphalt on the next test.”

Andersson is due to test again in January when he will be joined by team-mate, the Australian Chris Atkinson.
