McRae for APRC Proton S2000?

McRae with Michael GuestFormer World Rally Championship star and British Rally champion Alister McRae has been linked to a full-time return to the sport with Proton.

The Scot, who drove for Hyundai and Mitsubishi at the height of his WRC career, is believed to be in line for a drive in the FIA Asia-Pacific Rally Championship in one of the all-new Proton Satria Neo S2000 cars built by British firm MEM. AUTOSPORT reports a new car, which McRae could drive, was delivered to the Proton factory in Shah Alam, Malaysia last week.

“Alister has so much experience of Super 2000, it makes him the ideal choice for this seat,” a source said. “He’s also got an exceptional breadth of knowledge of developing new cars and driving them in this part [Asia-Pacific] of the world.
