Quinn to drive for GSR in Malaysia

Australian driver Nathan Quinn has a great opportunity to get his international rally career kick-started again at the Malaysian Rally in Johor Baru July 13-15.  Through an alliance with China’ s Soueast Motor Kumho Team owner Fan Fan and the GSR Repsol Air Asia Team owned by Malaysian Gunasaleen Rajoo, Quinn will drive one of the GSR Evo 9 Lancers to help take out the MRC event for the team, currently trailing in the points in the Malaysian Rally Championship.

“It is another fantastic opportunity for me, and I am really looking forward to giving the GSR Repsol Air Asia team the result they need. I met some of Guna’s team in last year’s Asia Pacific Rally Championship and so I am looking forward to working with them during July to achieve their goals,” Quinn said.

The team will include two Mitsuibishi Evo 10s for Guna Rajoo and Fan Fan, while a new addition for Quinn will be Malaysian based co-driver Nicole Gill who won the previous round of the MRC with Karamjit Singh in a GSR Repsol Air Asia Mitsubishi Lancer Evo.

It is sure to be a tough event for the young Australian coming from winter,  to a country where the temperatures are over 35 degrees C and  95% humidity one moment, and torrential rain the next.

“Training for the event is going to be tough. I won’t have driven competitively since China in November last year and I am led to believe temperatures in the cars get over 60 degrees. With winter at home it is sure to be a shock to the system, but I am really pumped to get there.”

The rally starts Friday the 13th with a 2.5km spectator stage adjacent to the Angsana Ceremonial Area followed by over 200 competitive kilometers in the Johor Baru Oil Plantations Saturday and Sunday.
