Aksa looks ahead to Whangarei

Indonesian driver Subhan Aksa has vowed to put the disappointment of retiring from the New Caledonia Rally behind him and concentrate on this weekend’s Rally of Whangarei, the 3rd round of Pacific Cup.

Aksa was three stages away  from the finish in New Caledonia when a gearbox problem in his Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 9 halted his effort to reach the podium finish.

Aksa “ New Caledonia was very tough especially with the rain before the rally, we crashed in the first stage which damage our suspension and costs us valuable seconds in the first 4 stages.   Coming out of the last service of the rally we were 3rd in Pacific Cup, too bad our luck ran out on stage 17. It was disappointing not to finish, but thats rallying. We don’t think about it anymore, we trust our team will get the car ready for the final round”.

Whangarei will be another new rally for the Indonesian Duo, “the only thing we know the road is fast, it will be fun doing flat out on this chambered roads” said co-driver Hade Mboi. Despite their lack of knowledge of the stages, they promise to push hard on the rally, New Zealand has been famous for the fast roads and the level of competitiveness.

“Australia and New Zealand is a  home of the best asia pacific drivers, it will be good to know where is our speed comparing to them as a part of our preparation for next year. That’s our objectives for this year program.”

“ It will be great if they could finish in the top five” said Mago Sarwano,  team manager

The 2011 Pacific Cup has been a good experience for the Reigning Indonesian Rally Champion to compete with the regions best drivers, and looking forward for more to come in the coming years
