Proton Satria rumoured for Asia Cup

Rumours continue to suggest that Malaysian manufacturer Proton are considering entering the 2009 Asia Pacific Rally Championship.

Proton confirmed last week that they are entering the European based IRC championship with Guy Wilks driving the latest S2000 Proton Satria Neo, followed by a report in this weeks issue of GPweek ( http://www.gpweek.com )   suggesting  an S2000 Proton Satria has been shipped from MEM in the UK for use in the Asia Pacific Rally Championship.

There has been no mention of drivers and Proton’s entry would be purely for the Asia Cup and most likely starting on their home event the Malaysian Rally 14-16 August.

Will we see the Proton Satria Neo S2000 on Malaysian gravel soon? Rumors have been flying around indicating that we may see the Proton S2000 in the APRC round of the Malaysian Rally in August. Who will be the driver ? Allister McRae, Karamjit Singh and Saladin Mazlan are the favourite candidates for the seat….. or will Proton enlist their IRC pilot, Guy Wilks, to tackle our Malaysian oil palm estates ?
