Leyraud enters APRC Pacific Cup

Multiple New Caledonian Rally Champion Jean-Louis Leyraud has confirmed his entry for the 2009 Pacific Cup, by entering his home event and APRC events in Australia and New Zealand.

” I planned to do the whole APRC , but I didn’t find the budget and therefore I’m entering Pacific Cup again this year”.   Leyraud finished third in the Pacific Cup last year and has a very good chance of winning it in 2009 providing he can get a good start on his home rally, an event where home knowledge is very important.

“This year the first leg will be in reverse and the most difficult stage will be on the second leg, Katricoin especailly if it rains. Of course I plan to win but the way is long!”   Leyraud will use his own Subaru Impreza for the three events supported by the NZ based PBMS team.

Given his experience Leyraud is expected to be number one on the road, while his main international competition in Rallye New Caledonia will come from New Zealand drivers Hayden Paddon and Brian Green, both in Mitsubishi Lancers.

Rallye New Caledonia start this Friday 10th April in Noumea and finishes Sunday. Details and results available at: www.rallye-nc.net
