Former APRC Champion Carlos Sainz in Macau

Former APRC Driver’s Champion Carlos Sainz (1990) is still very active in motorsport and this weekend he’s in Macau watching over son Carlos Sainz Junior competing  in the very competitive F3 Grand Prix.

There are many ‘Father and Son’ combinations in motorsports  and no venue could be more testing than the Macau street circuit with its superfast straights, twisty hill section enclosed by concrete and steel barriers – and this week…..wet weather.

For the Sainz family its been a frustrating weekend so far. After consistently setting times in the top five during practice, Sainz Jnr crashed out of qualifying and then got a 3 place penalty for crossing the pit exit line.

The young Spaniard will start 19th, while Sainz Senior will be watching anxiously from the pits. But then Carlos Sainz the rally driver has seen it all,  experiencing all the highs and lows of international motorsports.
